Great vid! Thanks for being honest too!

I’m definitely interested in learning more about your techniques including the one mentioned at the end of the video about strength and endurance!

I’m just an average former athelete, 27yr old female. I had a very stressful job for the last 3 years and packed on about 35lbs of fat (while losing my former muscle.) Ugh…

So now I’m unemployed (along with my husband). I’m jazzed about the stress relief and am looking to get back into shape. We have a 5yr old so naturally money is pretty dang tight, but thanks to my dad I do have a gym membership!

So here’s what I did a few months ago. I found “The Fat Burning Furnace” (http://www.fatburningfurnace.com/) I couldn’t afford to throw the $40 at it and just hope it was worth it, but then came the throw $5 at it and return it if you don’t like it after 30 days. Well, I could do that! Turned out, there was enough in there for me to feel comfortable buying it.

So I’ve more or less been following this, and making adjustments to exercises based on equipment available and comfort level (for some reason, leg extension machines don’t fit my legs, so I do leg press instead, per old instructions from a PT I saw for my knee in 2006.)

I gotta say, I’ve definitely been seeing results, so I thought I’d pass it along to you per your request in the video. :)

I’m glad I got it then, b/c I don’t think I could set aside enough money to get it now. This has been the only real downside to being unemployed for a bit here.

But education is absolutely essential, so I started signing up for the freebie blogs, facebooks, info vids ect… by you, John, Craig, Joel, (and I’ll add Vice to that list now too! :D ) I really appreciate you guys putting these out!

Well, better go, I’m due at the gym. ;)

Brenda

Just trying to the comment numbers up.

Jeff

Great video! Keep them coming Dr. K

Ryan

Great video! Keep ‘em comin, I’m learning so much!

Great video Dr. Kareem! Can’t wait until we go white water rafting on the Ottawa river!

Hey everyone – Kareem is the absolutely most transparent and trusting guy I know – he takes his reputation and your trust VERY seriously and everything he just said is right from the heart.

Muscle has changed my life. In the literal sense.

Aside from the physiological benefits… building muscle has the power to serve you and serve the people around you forever.

Look forward to helping you… feel free to ask me any questions too.

Keep up the high quality delivery Kareem.

Bill Pairaktaridis

Hey man! Great video! I’ve really been waiting for a video from you and Roman explaining how we can combine FPFL and DEFL. Hope we see it soon!

Pat MacNeil

Dr. K,

The quality and amount of information is fantastic. Keep it coming. Thanks!

Lee

Thanks for the useful information Dr. K!

Rylee Jo

You’re right–we’re getting alot of information. I’m saving it and filing it folders. I pull them up when possible (usually kids nap time) and take notes. This helps me stay focused and not overwhelmed. I’ve been in the fitness industry a long time and still this is a lot of information that is, in all honesty, challenging some of the common beliefs held for a long time. So far I have NOT been disappointed. I always new there was a BETTER way.–rj

Travis

I’m currently in a bulking phase right now and follow Vince very closely throughout the year for tips and tricks. (This is essentially how I came to subscribe to your newsletters).

I am very interested in your suggested 6 reps on a targeted muscle group supersetted with 15 on the opposite. Very very interesting stuff. I am actually supersetting opposite muscle groups right now but with the same rep scheme. I will probably do a 4 week test of this sometime before summer right before I start my cutting phase.

Hi, I have been a fitness person all my life, now I am 60 years old. I evaluate my fitness by my pulse rate, I cycle big miles as well as do weights. I have just noticed that your talk is to lower the reps to 6 and go to muscle failure. All my life I have advised people against this \"INITIALLY!!\" because of the resistance level in the muscle. That is to say that a 160lb male can barely press 100lbs for 6 reps. If he goes beyond his resistance level and say presses 115lbs he will never build muscle with any significance. I have seen 140lb males pressing 160lbs for 1 rep ONLY and their muscles will never grow EVER!If he presses 80lbs for a month his muscle will grow – because it is easier to press and his resistance level goes up. He then presses 100lb for some period and his level again rises. If you advise to exercise under this regime the learners will not be \"sucked\" in to trying beyond their resistance – potential you say!

Nythcar

I\’ve enjoyed your videos so far, but often have a hard time watching them because of interruptions, both at work and at home. Is there a way you could post transcripts of them or something so we could read the information if we can\’t watch the video?

nelson

thanks for this video your a great trainer and looken forward to other great videos like this

Frank

Great piece of info. Got a question, Final Fase Fat Lose is a program aimed at getting rid of that last portion of body fat. Right now i got body around 15% if i am correct. So would it be better to use Double Edge Fat Lose and Truth About Abs first to get under that magic 10% body fat and then use FFFL?

Paul Steinway

Great stuff Dr. K. Just wondering…I purchased double edge fat loss and now starting week 2. Do I stay with your program or should I incorporate other stuff as well?

Vic

Thanks for the video Dr K. — always looking forward to receiving more information/advice from you.

Hey Dr. K.’
I really appreciate the information you continue to put out there. It’s one of the main reasons I bought DEFL. I also thank you for enlightening me on the 3 big dates/times in the fitness ‘world’ so I understand why so many great programs are coming out at the same time. Now I just have to figure out how to incorporate each of them together to get the best of each. I sincerely thank you for the above video because I also bought Vince’s FPFL and didn’t know how to do both successfully. Keep the info coming and I’ll keep trying to absorb it all!

kareem

Hey Andrea,

Thanks for sharing :-)

Yeah, Rob’s program is great – you’ll hear more about some pretty cool stuff you can do with Fat Burning Furnace soon. So many things to say, so little time ;-)

kareem

sneaky sneaky

kareem

you’re very welcome Jeff – glad to have you post up here!

kareem

you’re very welcome Ryan – glad to have you post up here!

Gabriela

Great video! I appreciate your honesty! :)

So I hope you could get into more detail about when to train the muscle pairs and how often e.g. per week and how many sets etc.
What are those particular muscle pairs? Could you list them?

Greetings from Austria, Europe!
Gabriela*

Sameer

Thanks for the video Dr. K. When you said if you feel fat and ugly you got me. Im not ugly but im fat. Picture this 13 year old boy who weighs 165!!! Your program should help. Thanks

kareem

anybody else ever been white water rafting??

So much fun!

I’ve gone in Thailand, Costa Rica, Spain, and New York – never been up in Canada for it before… should be a blast!

Vince, thanks for the kind words – I appreciate you.

Be sure to ask vince questions – this is a great opportunity for all of us…

speak soon,

Kareem

Tom

Dr. K, I’m new to weightlifting and some of the terms you use are new to me. Is there a glossery of words ie. sets, giant sets, reps, and super sets? All of 1A is done during one workout, and same for 1B and so on?

David

I don’t need to tell you how correct you are about connecting the dots between the information that is being disseminated between you, Roman, Joel, Mike and Isabelle. When someone sees the value in all, integration is the challenge. I did Body-For-Life back in 2000 (not a contest entry) and lost 30 lbs of fat and got ripped only to get a virus that put me out of commission for almost 2 months. Can you say atrophe? I moved on and life got in the way. I know BFL worked for me and Joel, which is why Joel’s infomration resonated with me. Getting familiar with him led me to the other names above, and you, and I am grateful. Now, as you said, integrating all the concepts is the challenge. I appreciated that comment in your blog so much. I’m trying to connect the dots between raw and organic eating with body weight training, kettle bell training, ninja fat loss, the neuromuscular connection and mass building. I can see my ideal physique in my mind, remember what it is like to feel strong and very flexible, but am challenged with my starting point as I look at everyone’s material. You started to address this when you said, 1) start with double-edged fat loss, 2) started to talk about Vince’s program for muscule building, etc. If I have The DS, CYWT, DEFL, The Truth About Abs, etc, where do I really get started so I can get focused and be the example for my family to follow

I’m ready to go…

David

kareem

Hey Bill,

Glad you liked the video!

It’s up in the members’ area of Double Edged Fat Loss – here’s the link:

(you’ll need to login)

kareem

You’re welcome Pat – stay tuned for more great info – only the best for you guys and gals!

Luis

I’m glad you published this video, I’ve been confused about all the programs out there; I started with “The Truth About Abs” and I thought that was going to be enough; then Mike Geary recommended his clients to take a look at the Final Phase Fat Loss with John Roman which I found very interesting; I joined the program but honestly I haven’t used it yet because I want to follow one program at least for a month; then John Roman suggested to join and read Joel Marion’s blog and he also had me reading all of these wonderful things about DEFL; I joined DEFL thanks to Roman advices and to the exercises that you (Dr Kareem) recorded on “The Truth About Abs”. I’ve been very driven to DEFL because not only you show us how to exercise but because all the advices and information that you share with us. I’m still having a little bit of a hard time trying to follow one program but for now I’ve been mixing both (TTAA and DEFL) and I started seeing great results withing the first 10 days. I’d like to be advised on where to star or if I should start mixing all three programs (TTAA, DEFL, and FPFL) In the meantime, I’ll be trying to take the time to look at every video posted here… I’m loving this!

kareem

You’re welcome Lee :-)

kareem

That’s a cool idea – the filing concept – anybody else doing that??

kareem

cool – yeah, Travis, this is a phenomenal way to build muscle quickly.

Oh, and just a few more comments and I’ll come out with a more specific video that explains tomorrow – got any friends you can send this way??

kareem

Hey Paora,

I appreciate your perspective, but there is a difference (that is well supported by research and clinical experience) in building muscular endurance and muscular strength. The amount of muscle you recruit in a shorter amount of time has a direct correlation to muscle growth and hypertrophy. Technically, a 6 rep set should be no more dangerous than a 12 rep set provided that both go to momentary muscular failure. (6 reps doesn’t mean doing less than 6 reps, so I’m not sure how someone who lifts 100 pounds successfully at 6 reps and hits failure would even consider doing 115 pounds – this isn’t clear to me)

1 rep max – now that’s a different story…

Plus, people in DEFL are going to be advanced within 30 days – that’s actually a reality – wait till you see the level of muscular coordination and motor unit recruitment that’s possible – it blows me away every time – so happy to share this with you!

kareem

Hey Nythcar,

wish I could! There are transcripts of the educational videos in http://DoubleEdgedFatLoss.com

but this IS video fitness blog, right?? :-)

kareem

you’re welcome Nelson – thanks for stopping by!

Good video man ! Continue with it! With your and vince’s advice i am getting quite far in so little time , thank you seriously XD

kareem

Hey Frank,

In total honesty, you’ll get there either way if you work hard and hit the right intensity.

That said, from a program variety standpoint, exposure to the best information and programming on the net and overall greatest health benefit, you couldn’t really have picked a better combination to hit your goals. Here are the links, just in case it’s more convenient:

Double Edged Fat Loss
Truth About Abs
Final Phase Fat Loss

kareem

Hey Paul,

depends… what are your goals?

kareem

our pleasure Fernando

kareem

Hey Luis,

You’re welcome!

Glad to hear you’re having so much fun!

I’ll post a very specific workout program that integrates all 3 in the Inner Circle area
on Month 3 (lots of people want to see the TAA, DEFL, FPFL combo!)
and a response that will get you going for all members.

For inner circle members, I’m even going to push to get Roman and Mike
on a call to discuss the best strategy :-)

Should be a lot of fun!

kareem

Hey David,

Thanks for your thoughtful input.

This is clearly a question that needs to addressed specifically.

My honest recommendation is to start with Double Edged Fat Loss
and then work on the other programs one at a time before integrating
all of them together. Order counts here, so I’ll post a video in the members’
area within the next 2 weeks (in time for your graduation) and help you
get going from there.

Keep up your level of motivation – you’re on the right track and you’ve
got the tools to succeed. You should definitely take a look at Vince’s
program to work on completing the picture here.

speak soon,

Kareem

kareem

Hey Tom,

cool – glad you asked – yep!

Check out Module 1 – The Ideal Fat Loss Workout
and you’ll have a better understanding :-)

Also, check out the QuickStartGuide & that should get you going as well..

Thanks

kareem

you’re welcome Sameer!

(that’s my cousin’s name – you’re in good company!)

…and he was fat when he was your age, but now he’s in amazing shape! you can do it too!

be sure to check out both DEFL and Maximize Your Muscle – you’ll be stoked with the results.

kareem

glad you’re interested Gabriela!

just a few more comments – got any friends you can send this way??

Bob

Thanks for the video!

Troy

Hey Dr. K.,

I was hoping you could elaborate a little more on doing the equal opposite muscle sets. I know I used to do chest/back, bis/tris, and glutes hams/quads. I never super set the leg portion, but I switched it up because one day I did deadlifts and single leg leg curls and when I did my second set of squats my hamstring felt like it was pulled. A little more detail, or even a better idea of how to do this would be great. Thanks Doc…

Thanks Kareem! Although I’m a real beginner I am making progress. Some things are beyond what I can do but I feel sure I will get better as I stay at it!!

Luis

that’ll be great! thank you for being there for us!

Alex

keep up the good work Dr. K.! I’m finding your theory and methods very enlightening and look frwards to putting them into practice

Thanks

Robert Gallegos

Great information, Keep them comming

Terri

Thank you for the video! I appreciate the video especially since I was beginning to feel the overwhelm at the programs coming out. I purchased Fat Burning Furnace and did it for about 2 months before seeing DEFL. I had not seen any progress. I tried your week one workouts and could not complete it. Apparently I was in even more pathetic shape than I thought. Now I wonder if my lack of progress with FBF was partially due to poor neural communication. I took your advice and did week one exercises without weights/devices for 6 -7 reps for one week, and this week worked up to a full 10 reps of each. I was so happy that I think next week I will begin using the weights. Thank you for your encouragement. What I was wondering was, in the future when I complete the full up 30 day routine, if eventually I work in some of the FBF blowtorch routines? I also appreciate your use of scientific references, not just the “well it worked for me” reason for doing a program. As a former physical therapist I appreciate scientific proof. Thanks and good luck!

Terri

Bob

Great Video. You’re right we are bombarded with people trying to sell us the next best workout program and honestly I am sick of buying them. I did buy yours though and I love the work outs. Once I do lose the weight I will have to learn how to get myself bigger and leaner through your webinars. I copy all your info to a memory stick and that way I can read it or watch it anywhere. I thank you for introducing me to these different and incredible workouts. I have just started week 2 of DEFL and haven’t lost any weight yet but I can feel a difference in how I feel. Thanks again

Andrea

Re: Kareem

Sweet! Can’t wait to hear what you’ve got to say!!! :D

squeaker_al

Wonderful Video. PLEASE Keep more coming. I am working with DEFL to bring my body fat from 51% down to 23% or so, and get my muscles back. With your help, and the DEFL program I am seeing good things happen, it is just what my body was waiting for.

While the DEFL website is very wonderful, and very informative, I LOVE to hear your enthusiasm, the energy in your voice. Your upbeat personality, energy and new information is so VERY VERY helpful. It keeps me motivated, and going on. I watch a video that has you in it and think… OH YEAH, I need to get my body moving, I need to either do a DEFL workout, or something to just get moving (depending on if it is workout or “rest” day). So I am hoping that all the folks that you have touched will speak up and let their “voices” ring. WE WANT MORE Kareem.

I know you have a family and many other things going on in your life, so I also want to a small time out, and thank your family for sharing you with us. THANX.. = )

squeaker

Nick

Hi Kareem, thanks for all of the information you share with us and DEFL which I have been including into my training. As an athlete I am interested in not only building muscle and strength, and losing fat, but also with performance. I had a question about the work of Jason Ferruggia, specifically his new product Triple Threat Muscle. It seems his background with training athletes would be more in line with my needs. I would like to know your opinion on him and his work if you are familiar with it. Thanks.

Bob

Thanks Dr. K.

I’m still “just getting started” with your program. I’m 55, and been lifting for many years- I thought I was in okay shape until I began your program! I’m looking forward to your beginner’s routine. Right now, I’m barely making it through the week one warmup, but feeling like I’m already getting more results than I got from regular routines of barbells, dumbells, squat press, basic pushups, etc.

Thanks for everything that you are providing- I can’t figure out when you have time to sleep!

Bob

Henriette

Thanks for the video..!

I bought the FPFL but before I could even start Roman spoke so highly about you and DEFL that I bought it too.. I’m 38 and have been pretty active most of my life, I play soccer, I do boxing and I have included weight training with a PT on and off over the last 5 years as I have been able to afford it. I LOVE training hard so I was really excited and ready to take on your 30 Meltdown challange BUT I only got through the first 2 workouts 1A and 1B and I couldn’t move for a week ..! I don’t mind getting sore but that was just insane..! That was last week and frankly I wasn’t game to try it out again this week as I had commitments where I really needed to NOT walk like I had s**t myself .. ;0) The question is – how do I continue without getting quiet that sore and what’s the best thing to do for the soreness..? I tried to walk it off but I was nearly in tears :0(

Cheers from Downunder
Henriette

Charles

Thanks for the video, Kareem.
I really like the example you gave at the end. That could be a great way to combine what you teach with other programs, couldn’t it?

Now I know you already answered my question about FPFL vs. DEFL and how I should manage both programs. But if I get Vince’s program too, do you think I should just go ahead and switch to one of the three programs every month or so?

Charles

Di

Thanks for helping me to lose those last few kilos which have been preventing me from fitting into my fave super sexy jeans! I’m nearly there.. keep them coming XX

Kathy

58 yr. old school teacher, 7 kids & 3 grandkids, getting into the best shape of my life, relatively painlessly! Do I want more advice from Dr. Kareem? You bet!

Opal

Great video Dr. K! So now I know that you are aware of some of our information overload after purchasing programs from you and your friends within a short time. I\’m not complaining, how can I, when I\’ve already lost 4% bodyfat without losing any weight within a few weeks. Big thanks to you, Kareem!

Martha

Hi Kareem! I always love getting your videos and all of the great information! This is the very first time I have ever contributed to a blog. I am here because I DO trust you. Thank you for that! Question: What do you think about PACE? I’m off to the gym… gotta get Week 2 started…I’m excited! I’m seeing results already! Take care and thanks for everything!

Martha

BTW – there was alot of info. in that video…so, boil it down for me please, what IS the ONE thing you MUST have? :o )

kareem

Hey Martha,

GREAT to hear from you! Use this as your soundboard – I’m here for you.

A lot of people can learn from you… you’re going to be a big help on the blog – I can tell.

Unfortunately, I’m not familiar enough to speak intelligently on PACE. It’s a program I’ve been wanting to review, so feel free to send it my way if you have it and I’ll take a look and get back to you.

kareem

Awesome Opal!

4% bodyfat, huh?

Go on, tell us what you’re up to… wanna share?

kareem

that’s great Kathy!

I love hearing you’re doing this well :-)

kareem

Yeah Di!

you’re welcome – keep up the great work!

anybody else want to do the same?

Lose The Last Few Kilos

kareem

Hey Charles,

Glad this was helpful for you!

Yep, this is a great way to combine what I’m teaching into other programs. You’re only truly fit once you know how to take care of your health no matter which program. …and how to maximize results.

Yes, at this point, I’d recommend Periodization. 6 week programs, alternating.

sof

Hi I’m french!! Great video looking forward for the next one

kareem

Hey Henriette,

Ouch!

Been there… all too many times – be easy. just go through the movements. Knock down your warm up intensity and see how ‘easy’ you can make it. Once you have 2 extremes in mind, it’s a lot easier to pick something in the middle and be safe.

Make sense?

kareem

Hey Bob,

you’re welcome :-)

sleep?

that’s what I train for – hehe…

Nah, you all are very important to me, so I’ve been putting in 20 hour days to help everyone get the personal attention s/he deserves. That’s only right, but it’s also only sustainable for about 2 weeks… after that, things relax a bit, questions are answered, and people are seeing results. Plus, the video faq database is starting to fill up, so that’ll answer a bunch of questions for people as well….

Glad you’re getting such great results!

Keep up the great work!

kareem

Hey Nick,

Jason has a great reputation, and he’s well-endorsed by people I trust in this industry. To be honest, I was thinking of emailing him and checking out his new program, but I’m a bit bogged down with other stuff for the moment…

Just can’t speak either way here… not with positivity anyway.

kareem

hey Squeaker,

You got it!

I’m sold… another video tomorrow, but keep the comments coming :-)

Tell your friends, join in.

I’m here to help, and Vinny D. & I are going to do big things with you this week.

Ready?

Thomas

Hey Dr. K!

Doing great with the video’s! Your the first who’s enthousiasm really reaches through your video’s and I really believe it and I see great results with it!

Thanks from Holland!

Anup

Great Video.
As you said there are so much of information and everyone claims to be the best! it is very difficult for a beginner like me to decide.
I can fall on this blog to get an independent view.
I would like to get your opinion on Jasson Ferrugia’s MGS Programme. I am planning of getting this one and integrate with your DEFL programme.
I worked DEFL for one week. So far my experience is great. Let me see with one month workout what will be the changes in my body composition and appearence.

Karen Higgins

Hi Dr. K!

Great inspirational video. Today I even watched all of the videos in the library just to make sure I’m caught up and not missing anything! I am in week 2 of my giant sets, and I’m feeling the burn, but also feeling so much stronger. Still can’t lose a pound though.. not one. Since dieting (using Geary and Isabel programs) and your DEFL, i’m still fat and flabby (30 lbs overweight). I am so frustrated, but I keep trudging on. Waiting for that video response you’ll be posting about the antidepressant weight loss barriers. I have to find an answer somewhere!
thanks!

Ivan Escalante

Hey Dr.K, thanks for the great video that you presented.
I just wanted to ask vince (I\’ve bought your NNMB a year ago and I\’m almost done with it and just need maybe 3 months to finish the advanced part) a question: I have almost 3 years now under my belt of lifting weights and I was wondering if I should stop what I\’m doing and jump to MYM or should I keep doing NNMB until I\’m done and then jump to MYM?

Honestly, I\’m getting results with it and I wouldn\’t want to mess up anything and I know that if i was to purchase MYM, i would get results, there is no doubt about that but will this offer be launched another time in the year or will it be the only chance for me to get it? I really appreciate what you people are doing and keep on doing what you\’re doing =)

Brian

Greatful for all the info you are giving and I am realy impressed with you program (just finished week 2 exersizes) and I am seeing changes, that at 55 I never though would happen. The comments and the info they contain would be a lot easier to read if your answers were posted directly under the question.

Jeaane

Dr. K is AWESOME! Thank for the information and honesty!

Thank you so much for the info. I’ve been working on the program for two weeks now and am seeing some definite muscle gains, I’ll be even happier when I start seeing some fat loss. My energy is up and I’m on my way to a better me. Keep it coming!!

Craig

So now I need another program in addition to DEFL? Always helpful info Dr. K.

Yo!

Gotta say I love the work Both Dr. K and Vince do…

Question for Dr.K, what do you think about Craig B’s Turbulance Training?

Cheers,
Chris

Alicia

Hey Dr. K
Thank you so much for this website and the videos! I swam in high school and just started college this year. Coming into college one of my main goals was to stay in shape, and hopefully slim down a bit more, but it’s been really hard deciding what is really the best things for me to do. I love this program! I just started this week and my legs have never been this sore for so long. The first day was so tough but I’m getting into the routine :)

Seth

As long as you\\\’re offering opinions on other people\\\’s stuff, what do you think of http://www.bodyrecomposition.com (Lyle McDonald)?

Alex

Great video Dr. K. Really looking forward to see more. You have been a really big help. Thank you Doc.

Loni

Hello, I kinda figured that you were going to speak of the importance of having and gaining muscle. I have been strengthtraining for a while. However I really want to remove some exesse fat. I bicycle to and from work 5 days a week usually taking me roughly 30min. I very the speed and I make sure to do some kind of strength training before I go. I have a strange favour to ask… well my boyfriend overreacts by yelling when he sees me doing exercises like rows, pushups or \’reclined\’ pull ups. He seriously thinks that my breasts will dramatically shrink if my pecs get any kind of stimuli.
You are the professional, so I am asking that you make a video debunking myths that apply to everyday women when it comes to strength training and working out for fat loss. I have tried to explain to him that the body works as a unit and overall fat loss will more likely make my breast seem smaller and there is no such thing as spot reduction.
When/if you do make a video on the subject–I know you have a lot of things to do, but I will be so thrilled to see it and show it to that pig-headed-man I live with!*g*
I appoligize if my comment made you feel embarrassed, But thank you for your concideration.*g*

Carmen

Hi Dr. K,

Great work-outs and videos. I must say it’s not a piece of cake, but after all it is not supposed to be.
I am doing Insanity in the morning and DEFL in the afternoon.I am not sure if you are familiar with work-outs from beachbody.com, but I started with them and I liked them.
Could you let me know if combining the two is all right?

Thanks,
Carmen

Robertino

Thanks man, It’s always good to get the guiding principals the framework so to speak. Keep up the good work.

“the Swede”

Fay

Hi there! I’m also in week2 of DEFL. What has happened with the synchronicity of Vince’s and Dr. Kareem’s programmes? It is obvious you’re working together (marketing speaking), so at least you could give us some time to work your programme first. Anyway, so far I’m happy with gaining strength, although I haven’t lost even 1 pound, like Karen above.

Paul Hoderlein

Love the video Dr. K! Please keep them coming.

Per

Am about to start week 3 of DEFL and lovin’ it. Keep the info comming, I’m learning so much and am absorbing it like a sponge!

David M

Thanks for the vid and advice for all. Iam a trained natural heath consultant and would like to say that is nice nice to see someone pushing proper body shaping/ conditioning and not stop eating this food group/ style and you’ll lose weight. The teaching that I go by is moderation in most areas of life

kareem

Thanks David – great to hear from you!

kareem

cool Per – love your enthusiasm!

keep up the great work!

kareem

Thanks Paul – will do!

kareem

Hey Fay,

How’s your diet doing??

How about the intensity of your workouts? sweating hard? good post-workout nutrition?

Actually, things will work out well… Vince’s program comes out next week and will need to be shipped (should arrive during week 4 of DEFL)

kareem

You’re welcome Robertino :-)

kareem

Hey Carmen,

that all depends on fitness level – the pure nature of energy system training like DEFL is that it’s pretty draining. Adding more to this can be quite a challenge, even for the strong-hearted. How do you feel when you do both vs just one?

Can your body really take all that?

If so, sure!

If not, back off a bit and think about coming back to it… after all, what’s the race?

kareem

Hey Loni,

Thanks for the input – you’re right, your boyfriend is wrong.

Sure, I’ll make a video on this at some point… that’s a good idea.

The bottom line is that you should make sure you’re living in a supportive, healthy environment though. Obviously, I don’t know a whole lot about your boyfriend, but I wouldn’t want anyone speaking to me this way…. or telling me how my body needs to be.

Wishing you a happy and healthy day,

Kareem

kareem

my pleasure Alex :-)

kareem

Hey Seth,

again, happy to take a look if you send it my way…

kareem

keep charging Alicia!

I was a swimmer too – it’s amazing how each activity is so different on the body, isn’t it?

kareem

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the shout-out – you’re awesome!

TT is a great program – there’s a really cool way to integrate this into your routine. I’ll be talking more about this soon…

kareem

that’s more a question of your goals, Craig – what are they?

kareem

Hey Rhea,

glad to see that you’re seeing improvement. How’s your pace during the program? slow and steady or fast and speedy?

(the second one works better for fat loss, the first for strength – either way, though, muscle is a precursor to fat loss)

Scotty

Great vid Dr. K. Good to see guys ( You, Vince, Roman and Mike G.) trying to genuinely help ppl out there by getting the truth about what works to them.

Keep it up.
Scotty

Marylin

Hi, Dr. K,

Thanks a lot for taking the time to make these videos to answer our questions. I currently have your DEFL and am part of your community. I am currently 70 lbs overweight. I have lost 40 lbs on my own but have 70 to go. I have Vince’s No Nonsense Muscle and Six Pack Quest.

How different is this new program of his and would it be just as good for a 43 year old woman that wants to lose fat and build muscle?

Obvioiusly I know I can’t get as big as a man (no offense guys I really really don’t want to) but I always have that little voice. I want to get in exceptional shape and who knows maybe someday compete in a bikini/figure competition. At least that’s my plan. Any help and/or guidance and I would be greatful.

Again, please keep up the great work.

Great stuff Dr K
i have been looking for a program and thank God I happened to find your website. You provide a lot of info in plain talk which is easy to understand. DEFL is the answer i have been looking for. Keep the videos coming. Thanks. PS I almost bought P90X…. glad i didn’t john

Bob B

I do appreciate your honesty, but I also wonder when enough is enough in terms of workout programs and fitness information. There is a recent book called “The Paradox of Choice” in which the author argues that some choice is good, but too much choice just becomes confusing and debilitating. I am currently doing P90-X plus working out once a week with a trainer plus doing interval training on the elliptical on days when I can’t do P90 for some reason. I also have Roman’s FPFL, but I haven’t really looked at it yet because I don’t want to mix it with P90. I obviously also bought DEFL, but again, I don’t want to be hybridizing these programs too much because I am afraid that I will take away from their integrated effectiveness. I also am not sure that I need a whole lot more information on how to lost fat and build muscle. I feel as though, at some point, it is just going to be repetitive and not really add any value. This is where the confusion comes in for me.

I am a 54 year old male. I am a former football player and I have been anywhere from 199 to 306 in my adult life. I am currently at 250 and my next intermediate goal is 235. I am not absolutely sure of my final goal. I think I would like to get to 215 which was my weight as a senior in high school, but even more, I would like to get to 10% body fat. My trainer thinks this is too aggressive of a goal for someone my age, but I would certainly like to try to get there unless you think it is impossible. I don’t so much want to gain muscle mass as I don’t want to LOSE current muscle mass as I also lose fat. Adding a few pounds of muscle would be OK, but I am already pretty strong and don’t necessarily need additional muscle except as a way to build my basal metabolic rate. I have noticed that as I add more muscle, I am able to survive those little dietary “excursions” that occur with less damage than might have happened in the past. I very much agree with your suggestion that muscle is important. I am just not sure where to draw the line.

Kris

I know that you’ve had a lot of important matters to deal with recently, so thank you for taking the time to post this video. All this is new to me and honest advice and clear explanations are more than welcome. Thanks again.

Maria

Hello Kareem,
A great video! I watch everything you and your friends put out and tell my friends about it. Keep doing what you\’re doing. I love it!.

I am 69 years young. and a retired fitness instructor. I am 5\’3\’\’ and weighed 130 lbs. I signed up for your $47 DEFL fat loss program, since I\’m reasonable fit for my age, and was really eager to start.

In January of this year I went to the gym 3X/wk and swim 1km. 3X/wk in earnest, and have already lost 5 lbs. Most of my fat is in the stomach area. Along comes your program and I was blown away by it because it is so unique. After 3 days, while doing push-ups (your way) my shoulder started aching so badly that I had to stop doing them, ditto with my hips after doing lunges. D—- it! Am I correct in assuming because of my age , that your program is too difficult for me? I have adapted it already, but I am still so painful. I am also a complete insomniac, and some nights I just don\’t sleep at all, and am therefore too wacked to do anything. HELP!
Soooo disappointed. Maria.

Martha

Hi Kareem! Thank you so much for the encouragement! I’m looking very forward to the Assess and Correct Workshop tomorrow morning at 11am EST! See you there!

Henriette – I feel your pain! I felt pain in some places that I hadn’t felt in years! It took a couple days to get over it, but now I know that I need to pace myself. Keep up the good work!

Brian

Great info keep it coming. Loving the DEFL program by the way. Im also doing Vinces NNMB program. My weights days are monday wednesday and friday and im doing DEFL monday (after weights), tuesday, thursday and friday (after weights) is this the best way to do the 2 of them?? Or is there a better way??

Charles

Thanks, Kareem.
I think a 6-week rotation basis should work perfectly fine for me

Looking forward to tomorrow’s event ;)

Charles

Raphaelle

Always good to hear what you have to say, im gonna be posting up a video of me kicking ass with your workouts sonn ;P hehe Xo

Craig

My goals: I want to not be self conscious at pools and beaches and be able to keep up with my friends when we play sports. Do I need more than just DEFL or will it get me where I want to be?

Ann W

Hi! Even though I am a 77 yr. old woman with some arthritis, over weight, and have chest pains upon exertion (sometimes) I still gain some useful information from your videos, and do the things I can. Thanks for your assistance.

Ann W

Hi! I am a 77 year old woman with some arthritis, overweight, some chest pain on exertion, and a need to make a change in order to live to my goal of 140 yrs. old. I find you videos to be helpful as long as I adjust them to fit my capabilities. Thanks for your good works. This is my second try at commenting. Apparently I can’t see very well either. Oh well.

kareem

Hey Ann,

Thanks for your encouraging post! (the only reason your first post didn’t go through right away is that the system waits for me to click ‘approve’ first and it was past my bedtime. Otherwise, 1000′s of spammers find their way up here)

Be sure to remain safe – chest pain on exertion sounds like a reason for a stress test. Be careful!

(I love your goal!)

kareem

Hey Craig,

DEFL will definitely get you there.

Need is relative… variety is king.

You have all the tools you need… but I’ll be introducing you to phenomenal programs that you can use and they will benefit you greatly. Remember, while I believe my theories are as sound as possible, and my exercise programs are the best they can be, I am one person.

I learned from many. You should do the same, but no rush.

This is YOUR body – it’s your choice, but I believe in learning as much as I can, having proven mentors to follow that I can relate to more than others, and then absorbing everything else I can. Make sense?

kareem

awesome!

can’t wait to see it!

kareem

cool – sounds great!

kareem

Hey Brian,

Awesome! Glad you’re enjoying Double Edged Fat Loss so much!

yep! that’s great – make sure to ditch the warm ups and just do the giant sets if you’re adding them to NNMB.

kareem

Hey Martha,

You’re welcome!

I’m actually putting the finishing touches on the Assess & Correct Workshop right now – I think you’re really in for a treat :-)

I look forward to working with you soon!

kareem

Hey Maria,

Thanks for your enthusiasm!

It sounds like you might be a big aggressive with your workouts. It’s distinctly possible that your joints need some healing before you push for rapid fat loss. Try to slow down, do partial range of motion, and pain-free movements only. Also, sounds like you might want to get your shoulder/hip checked out. Maybe there’s a rotator cuff tendonitis going on there???

Also, you may want to reference either/both of these:

http://ShoulderInjuryGuide.com
http://BackInjuryGuide.com

They are e-books that I wrote that may prove useful to get started.

Most importantly, do the exercises that are completely pain-free. If you can do 3 out of 5, you’re still going to get amazing benefit.

Stay with me – don’t allow failure to be an option and it won’t be.

kareem

You’re welcome Kris!

kareem

Hey Bob,

Great post!

I’m familiar with that book – good call. Here’s how I’d break this down for you…

Too much choice is bad.
Too many fake ‘gurus’ out there
Find one to three that you can really trust (listen to them only)
They will narrow the choices for you
From there, do what makes sense to you

As for building muscle, my concern is your fluctuation and long-term goal of 10% bodyfat. In order to hit that goal, you’re going to need muscle for the ‘excursions’ you mentioned that are inevitable along the way….

I would have a heavier focus on fat loss, but periodize the program to include 6 weeks of muscle building every 12-18. Make sense?

kareem

You’re welcome John!

Thanks for your encouragement and kind words – it’s great to have you on board!

kareem

Hey Marylin,

You’re welcome. Very happy to help you.

I’ll be getting into a lot more detail on Vince’s new program over the course of the next couple days… it’s a bit advanced, so make sure you’re ready, but it’s doable if you feel you’ve gotten the workouts done from his other programs. We’ll talk some more about this, but this is Vince’s Grand-Slam program – hopefully we’ll be able to steal a few minutes from Vince and have him stop by to answer…

kareem

Thanks Scotty – I appreciate you.

Ahmed

great video,i love it keep it coming …the most thing that makes ur program work f4me that it works like u said on nervous system activation process i know that stuff WORKS no question i have read a little bit in neurology(brain signal and nervous system just to make it easy)what works for the brain in the case of stroke rehab works for the muscle..thankx again..my trust in u getting bigger in u everyday as much as my muscle:) thankx again Dr.Kareem

kareem

Hey Ahmed,

That’s pretty cool that you’ve read about stroke rehab and the nervous system… and even cooler that you’re starting to trust me. You should. I’m here to help.

Wendy

Hi Dr. K
At 52, with some health challenges, your program is helping me to break a weight barrier that’s been haunting me since entering peri-menopause! Have done back to back days of the Beer Belly Blaster and certainly feeling those muscles the next day! Now, the body fat barrier is my next big obstacle, but I’m determined to persevere!

I’ve also been receiving many compliments lately, which is positive reinforcement to stick to the program :)

Thanks for all your encouragement!
Wendy
